guest house giwa is a small, four-room guesthouse tucked away on the edge of the downtown area of Mishima, Shizuoka.
Once a sushi restaurant that stood closed for 13 years, the building was lovingly renovated and reborn in 2022 as a warm, welcoming space where the scent of wood and the rhythm of the town gently flow through.
This “Room Only Plan” is perfect for guests who wish to enjoy their stay at their own pace, free from meal schedules.
The city of Mishima is compact yet full of character — with unique shops, cafes, and natural beauty all within walking distance. From the crystal-clear stream of Genbe River and the historic Mishima Taisha Shrine to the nostalgic shopping streets and cozy bars, you can feel the everyday life of this charming town.
At giwa, our staff personally welcome you upon check-in.
As we do not use self check-in, you can freely ask us about the best local restaurants, cafes, or sightseeing spots. We’ll share the “real Mishima” you won’t find in guidebooks, making your stay even more enjoyable.
Each of our four rooms has its own atmosphere:
the “GOTEN” Tatami Room where you can relax on the floor,
the “GENBE” Triple Room with a fun loft space,
the “SAKURA” Twin Room with semi-double beds,
and the “HASUNUMA” Single Room ideal for longer stays.

All rooms feature natural wood interiors that create a soft, calming atmosphere.
From 9 to 10 PM, the “BAR giwa” opens for just one hour — a special moment where travelers and locals naturally gather to share drinks and stories. It’s an easy, relaxed space where you may find yourself connecting with the people of the town.
We also offer a special feature called the “Dinner Gacha.”
Spin the gacha machine located on the guest floor to win a coupon for one of Mishima’s popular restaurants.
Each night brings a new encounter — a playful way to discover local flavors and enjoy the town as one big dining room.
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building. Shared showers, restrooms, and sinks are kept clean, and each room has a refrigerator and electric kettle.
Check-in is from 16:00 to 22:00, and check-out is by 10:00.
More than just a place to sleep, guest house giwa offers a chance to experience the town itself — and the comfort of being personally welcomed.
